Built by Operators. Backed by Conviction.
We are a team of four partners who have founded, scaled, and exited companies across Africa. Headquartered in Dubai, with offices across the continent, we back founders the way we wished we had been backed.
Our Story
Muga Venture Capital was founded on a simple belief: Africa's most transformative companies will be built by Africans who understand the continent's complexity — its infrastructure gaps, its cultural nuance, its extraordinary human potential.
Our founding director Tinashe Mugadza spent over a decade building and investing across sub-Saharan Africa before establishing Muga. He assembled a team of partners who had each walked the founder's path — people who had raised capital, hired teams, navigated regulation, and built products used by millions. Headquartered in Dubai, with on-the-ground offices across Africa, Muga is positioned at the intersection of global capital and African opportunity.
Today we manage $120M across two funds, with a portfolio spanning 42 companies in 18 countries. We are not passive capital. We sit on boards, open doors, and stay in the trenches with our founders through every stage of growth.
Investment Thesis
We invest in technology companies solving structural problems across Africa — in fintech, agritech, healthtech, energy, logistics, and edtech. We look for founders with deep domain expertise, early traction, and the ambition to build pan-African businesses.
Solutions designed for African infrastructure realities, not adapted from Western playbooks.
We back founders who have lived the problem — domain expertise is non-negotiable.
We invest in companies with the ambition and architecture to operate across multiple markets.
We take a long view. Building enduring companies in emerging markets requires patience and partnership.

How We Work
We say what we mean and do what we say — with founders, LPs, and each other.
We are on the ground. We visit portfolio companies, attend board meetings, and stay close to the work.
We have been wrong before. We listen more than we talk and update our views when the evidence demands it.
We are here to back companies that change the continent. We do not invest in small ideas.
